Addressing privacy concerns, Google assures users that Assistant will not store message logs or summaries, and interactions will not contribute to training large language models. However, acknowledging the inherent complexity of AI-generated summaries, the company concedes that errors may occur.
Upon activation, users must opt-in to utilize this feature, accessible via either the Android Auto settings or the notifications menu within traditional settings. Additionally, users will have the option to enable the feature the first time they receive a message exceeding 40 words while connected to Android Auto.
Google clarifies that the feature will summarize messages in specific scenarios, such as receiving lengthy messages from a single sender or multiple consecutive messages from one source or group chat. Other messages will be read aloud without AI summarization. In cases of multiple messages from various conversations, they will be sequentially read. more in tech
Illustrating the functionality, Google offers an example where a contact sends a lengthy message regarding dinner plans.
